Safety Rules and Procedures
Sayre Sportsmen’s Club is a cold range - no guns loaded until the Range Officer gives command.
All Pennsylvania firearms laws will be observed.
A shot over the berm is a match disqualification.
Eye and ear protection must be worn at all times when in the shooting area.
All shooters must comply with the RO’s instructions. Failure to do so will result in a match disqualification.
Whoever is calling the line must read the range command as written to avoid confusion.
The RO calls the line and operates the timer. He then watches the gun and the shooting hand with an awareness of the range being clear. It is not his job to call or count misses. Someone else must call and count misses.
Finger must be off the trigger unless you are shooting. Violation of this or any other safety rule will result in a match disqualification.
Never load until the command to load is given.
A pit designated “Safe Handling Area” will be provided. This is the only area where you may handle firearms other than the firing lane.
Rifles on a gun cart must have actions open and be flagged except at the firing line or in the “Safe Handling Area,”
When carrying an uncased gun, MUZZLE UP at all times.
Anyone shooting in cowboy/cowgirl costume must still have pistols flagged or bagged, not holstered except at the firing line.
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
